48 projects of students from 1st to 12th grade country-wide were awarded within the XIII edition of the National Student Competition “Ambassadors of Health”
02 Dec, 2021 | 10:00The competition is organized as part of the National Program for Prevention of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases 2021-2025 on initiative by the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Environment and Waters, the WHO Office in Bulgaria, and the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross.
The national student competition “Ambassadors of Health” encompasses three age groups for participation: 1st-4th grade, 5th-7th grade and 8th-12th grade, and has two thematic areas: “Reducing smoking and alcohol abuse” and “Healthy eating and physical activity”.
The projects implemented interactive activities to reduce health risk factors. These activities include sports events, such as competitions, football tournaments, basketball, etc.; tourist and eco hikes; role games; debates and discussions; cooperation and teamwork among different generations for the preservation of Bulgarian traditions; development of websites and e-books for healthy lifestyle and nutrition, cleaning of polluted areas in different settlements in the country, etc.
The total number of projects that were successfully implemented and awarded is 48: 17 projects fall in the category from 1st to 4th grade; 9 projects - in the category from 5th to 7th grade, and 22 projects - in the category from 8th to 12th grade.
No official award ceremony will be held this year due to the declared epidemic state and the measures introduced to counter the spread of COVID-19 in the country. The awarded participants will have their diplomas and prizes sent to the principals of their schools.
