A new protected area was declared - the natural landmark Rock Bridge "The Arcata" over the Vit River

The Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov issued an order declaring a new protected area - the natural landmark Rock Bridge “Arcata". It spans over an area of 2,938 hectares in the land of the village of Eglen, Lukovit municipality, Lovech region.

The natural landmark Rock Bridge "Arcata" was declared on proposal by the RIEW - Pleven for the protection of the rock bridge over the Vit River as a rare, representative and aesthetic natural formation.

On the territory of the natural landmark, activities are prohibited that may lead to damage or destruction of the rock bridge - the subject of protection in the protected area, such as construction and placement of movable objects; change of use and the manner of permanent use of the parts of the property that fall within the natural landmark. Prospecting, exploration and extraction of underground resources, as well as the entry and parking of motor vehicles are prohibited. The pitching of tents, marquees and canopies, camping and campfires, as well as the holding individual or organised sports and recreational activities (rock climbing, bungee jumping, tug-of-war, rope tug-of-war, etc.) are not permitted.
