The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov joined the initiative by children from the schools in the Elin Pelin municipality and planted a tree together with them. The initiative "Children's Forest", during the Week of the Forest, includes 1800 children who are planting an oak forest on the land of Novi Han near Sofia today.

The large-scale initiative by Elin Pelin municipality, organized by the Mayor Ivaylo Simeonov, was initiated in November 2024, when each child was given a small acorn to plant in a pot and take care of it throughout the winter. Today, the grown oak saplings are planted in an area called "Children's Forest".

This year, the Week of the Forest is under the motto "A century of eternity in creation, preservation, and care!". The initiatives of the forestry structures are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the holiday of foresters and forest officials.

The "Children's Forest" initiative was supported by representatives of the executive branch and diplomatic missions in our country, who also planted trees.
