In the last days of the term in office of the caretaker government, the Minister of Environment and Water Asen Lichev approved the updated Areas with a significant potential flood risk. A total of 127 areas have been identified throughout the entire country, which are located in the four basin management regions. With the approval, the first stage of the preparation process of the Flood Risk Management Plans (FRMP) for the period 2022-2027 was completed.

Maps are to be prepared for the identified areas, which will indicate the degree of flood risk, as the basis for developing the Measure Programs for the updated areas.
