On the eve of the World Environment Day on June 5, the Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov visited the 120th Primary School "Georgi Sava Rakovski" in Sofia for a meeting with students from 7th grade.

"Can salt water be turned into drinking water?", "Is your ministry dealing with polluted water?", "Can the drying up of rivers be prevented?" - these are just a few of the questions with which the Minister was bombarded. He spoke in detail about the work of different teams within the ministry, how the cleanliness of water, soil, air, biodiversity is catered for, what are the functions of different units in the institution and what is the role of the regional inspectorates for environment and water.

Minister Dimitrov was impressed by how well prepared his young interlocutors were. They all knew which are the three national parks in Bulgaria, they were informed about the regulation of water in the dams and about the measures after the flood in Tsarevo. In the lively discussion, it became clear that the young people know a lot about the harm from waste and the need to collect it separately, and were aware of how saving water and electricity helps the planet.

The opportunity to meet well prepared and smart young like-minded people - this was the natural answer from Petar Dimitrov to the question "What does a person gain when one becomes a minister?".

The invitation for his visit is on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the founding of the school and as part of the rich program of activities of the school's Eco Committee.
