Today, the Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov met with H.E. Mrs. Hero Mustafa, US Ambassador to Bulgaria.

Ambassador Mustafa congratulated Minister Sandov on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policy. The two agreed on the importance of bringing climate policy high on the government’s agenda, given the urgent need to address this issue and establish good coordination across institutions in this resepct. Minister Sandov presented his priorities and pointed out that he is very motivated to work to persuade the institutions, the business, and civil society that it is necessary to take urgent measures to prevent climate change. A way to do that is to cooperate with countries with high-end technologies and know-how in the field of green energy.

Climate change is an indisputable fact and its effects have an impact on various sectors of the economy, as well as on human health, biodiversity, and ecosystems.

In this regard, the partnership with the United States as a leader in green energy is crucial. Both sides reaffirmed that Bulgaria and the United States are allies and strategic partners, united by common values, interests, and a shared vision for sustainable development.
