Restrictions
REACH provides for a restriction procedure to regulate the production, placing on the market and use of substances that pose an unacceptable risk to human health and / or the environment. Restrictions can range from a total ban to a ban on making available to the general public and apply to any substance, including those for which no registration is required. This part of REACH is "inherited" from the provisions of Directive 76/769 / EEC on restrictions on the placing on the market and use of certain dangerous chemicals.

A Compendium of analytical methods for the enforcement of the restrictions in Annex XVII of REACH has been published on the ECHA website. The document describes more than 100 analytical methods that control bodies can use to verify compliance with the imposed restrictions. It is also useful for companies that are subject to inspection.
