RIEW-Sofia carried out a non-routine inspection of arable agricultural land in the area of ​​Verdikal, Bankya district. During the inspection it was established that in properties located along two field roads there are sites with accumulation of contaminants of household waste, packaging, construction, biodegradables, and parts of end-of-life vehicles. The sites are open-access.

For the established unregulated pollution with waste the mayor of the district of Bankya has been presented with two prescriptions: to take actions to clean the waste and notify RIEW-Sofia thereof in writing by 31.05.2021 and to impose permanent measures to prevent re-contamination with waste, as well as waste disposal at unauthorized sites and the creation of illegal landfills.

In case of non-compliance with the given prescriptions, administrative penalizing measures will be imposed.
