The results of the sea water samples taken on 6 June from Bolata Bay and the resort complex of Shkorpilovtsi show no pollution. The data confirmed the good condition of the coastal sea waters announced last week by the Environment and Water Minister Petar Dimitrov.

The sampling was carried out at the beginning of the summer season during a joint inspection by the Black Sea Basin Directorate, the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water, and the Regional Health Inspectorate in Varna, and was attended by the Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov, the Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev, and the Minister of Health Dr. Galya Kondeva.

The indicators for ammonium, nitrate and nitrite nitrogen, and BOD5 (biological oxygen demand) were tested and the results for these met the standards for good or excellent water status. More than 13 joint inspections were carried out by the Black Sea Basin Directorate and the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIEW-Varna) along the Northern coast for unregulated discharges into the Black Sea.

The last sampling related to the monitoring of marine waters in connection with the military actions on the territory of Ukraine was carried out on 28.05.2024 from the stations Durankulak, Shabla, and Kaliakra. The results show no pollution in the area.
