Strategic Environmental Assessment procedure for the draft of the updated Strategy for the management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste in Bulgaria
Today, 23.11.2023, the Ministry of Environment and Waters announces that in connection with the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedure for the Updated Strategy for Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste (RAW) Management in Bulgaria, a letter from the Republic of Romania has been submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Waters, in which the country expresses comments and proposals on the documentation.
Today, 13.11.2023, The Ministry of Environment and Water (MoEW) informs that in connection with the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention), the MoEW has received letters from the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Romania, stating that the countries will participate in the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedure of the Updated Strategy for the Management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste (RAW) in Bulgaria, with the Ministry of Energy as the contracting authority.
The MoEW provides access to the letters of the Republic of Greece and Republic of Romania
Today 02.11.2023, The Ministry of Environment and Waters (MEW) informs that in connection with the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention), a letter has been submitted to the MEW by the Republic of Austria stating that the country will not participate in the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) procedure for the Updated Strategy for the Management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste (RAW) in Bulgaria, with the Ministry of Energy as the contracting authority.
The MoEW provides access to the letter of the Republic of Austria
The Ministry of the Environment and Water of Republic Bulgaria announce on 10th of October, 2023 that in connection with the fulfillment of Bulgaria's obligations as country of origin, according to the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a transboundary context (Espoo Convention) and Art. 34, para. 1 of the Ordinance on the terms and conditions for implementing ecological assessment of plans and programmes of plans and programs, the Minister of Environment and Water has notified for the procedure for (strategic) environmental assessment of the Updated Strategy for the Management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste (RAW) in Bulgaria with the contracting authority Ministry of Energy the following affected parties:
Austria, Greece, Romania, the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia.
To each of the letters with ex. No. EO-6/06.10.2023, a notification under Article 10, Paragraph 1 of the SEA Protocol, a draft of the Updated Strategy for the Management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) and Radioactive Waste (RAW) in Bulgaria and the SEA Report with Annex in English.
Information from the affected country whether they will take part in the cros -border Strategic Environmental Assessment procedure is expected by the 30th of October, 2023.
The deadline for providing opinions and statements for the SEA Report and the draft of updated Strategy is until the 10th of November, 2023.
