The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov to propose an interdepartmental working group to improve navigation on the Danube be formed
23 Jan, 2025 | 11:55The Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov will propose the formation of a working group between three departments for the implementation of the investment proposal (IP) "Improvement of navigation conditions in the Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube River Fast Danube” - for the Bulgarian section of the river. The topic was the subject of today's meeting between the Minister and H.E. Radko Vlaykov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Romania.
Given the specificity of the IP, according to Manol Genov the working group should include experts from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Ministry of Environment and Water. The details of the implementation of the project will be discussed at the level of prime minister and foreign minister and, if necessary, additional funds will be requested for the measures and activities on the Bulgarian coast, given its specificity.
During the meeting, Minister Genov appealed to our Ambassador to Romania for a quick reaction by the Romanian government and to monitor the processes regarding the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the project for the construction of units 7 and 8 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant. He emphasized that the project is of exceptional importance for the Bulgarian energy sector.
