The MOEW organized a joint inspection for unauthorized camping on the dunes at the Krapets-North beach

The Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov participated today in a joint inspection on unauthorized camping and parking of cars on the dunes of the Black Sea coast beach Krapets-North, organized on his initiative. The inspection was attended by representatives of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Varna, the Basin Directorate Black Sea Region, District Administration - Dobrich, the Municipality of Shabla, the Shabla Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Dobrich, and officers from the "Crimes against the Environment" sector at the Economic Police Department of General Directorate “National Police”.

A tour of the Krapets-North beach was conducted, which falls within two protected areas of the “Natura 2000” ecological network - Protected area for the conservation of wild birds BG0002050 "Durankulak Lake" and Protected area for the conservation of natural habitats and wild flora and fauna BG0000154 "Durankulak Lake".

In the course of the on-site inspection, offenders were identified and administrative offence certificates (AOC) were issued to them by the experts of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water - Varna. For the violators not identified at the time of the inspection, checks on the owners of the vehicles will be requested and follow-up action will be taken in accordance with the environmental legislation.

The employees of the Shabla Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Dobrich have drawn up warning protocols for the illegally parked caravans, according to which the offenders have 24 hours to remove the vehicles. The officers of the Shabla police received assistance from a Romanian police representative posted in Bulgaria.

The institutions will continue to carry out regular checks to ensure compliance with the prohibitions introduced by the orders declaring the protected areas, in particular in respect to the damage and destruction of natural vegetation on the coastal beach and in dunes outside the active beach area.
