The Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov met with the Mayor of Pleven and the municipal leadership to discuss the water supply problem

The water regime in the municipality of Pleven is canceled as announced after a regular operational meeting of the municipal leadership of Pleven this morning, whereby the Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov participated

"The issue of the water supply in Pleven and the condition of the water transmission network has been neglected for more than 35 years. This network is extremely depreciated and needs to be replaced. For the first time, the local authorities and the water and sewerage company are taking measures in this direction and placing an emphasis on this action," said Minister Petar Dimitrov during the meeting.

The construction of the Cherni Osam dam is without alternative for the water supply of Pleven, Lovech, and Troyan. However, this is a long process, the fastest measures will be to reduce losses in the network, Minister Dimitrov pointed out. According to him, despite the suspension of the water supply regime, the repair of the water transmission system is absolutely necessary and the work on resolving the problem of water shortage lies ahead.

"We will work to reduce losses in the water supply network," announced the mayor of Pleven Dr. Valentin Hristov. The Municipality of Pleven has already revised some of its projects at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and replacement of the water supply network in the city has been included, he assured.
